We've been wondering WTF Missy has been since her blessing of a performance at the Superbowl earlier this year. This morning she graced us with her awesomeness by dropping a new video that reminds us why Missy is a #Girlboss. Are you ready for Missy's return? I think this video just prompted me to create a "yall musta forgot" post dedicated to Missy. Stay tuned and Happy Thursday!

Erykah blessed my Soundcloud feed on Monday night with a track that's rumored to be a precursor to a new mixtape. Perfect timing for a music convo that I had with friends and music lovers about her cover to Drake's "Hotline Bling". I think Erykah's still has it.
Are your feeling the track? Is Erykah Drakin' now? Comment your thoughts below.

If you fell asleep early last night you probably missed that Apple Music dropped Drake's "Hotline Bling" video, but don't worry if you haven't seen it yet, I've got you covered.
Drake, no stranger to the "Art world" , wanted to remind us again that he's not only new to this, but true to this by channeling all of James Turrell's eliminating amazingness. The Video, produced by Director X-helmed, manages to capture Drake in never-ending color filled boxes that resemble the well-known work's Mr. Turrell. Although, the artist's work was created to erase the viewer's depth of perception, Drake has managed to use it to remove my perception of what dancing should be
With this
and this
and... I'm sorry Yeezy, but.. you might be 0-2 now considering drake made weird dancing look cool and took the shine from your soundcloud releases.
Like a savant, Drake has been dibbling and dabbling in 2015 and I am totally here for it. I thought the video was super cute and I really appreciated the nods to art and to Spike Lee with the Girl 6 themed video opener.
Girl 6
Hotline Bling
Was anyone else thinking Girl 6 at the start of the video? Are you feeling it?

Have you ever been a fan of an underground artist that you knew was gonna blow up? I know that I have. I still remember like it was yesterday, I was fan crushing hard for Lonny Breaux when he released The Lonny Breaux Collection. A few years later Lonny re-surfaced as Frank Ocean dropped Novacane from his Nostalgia, Ultra mixtape and I knew I would be seeing him live soon. Similarly, do you remember in 09 when Drake released So Far Gone mixtape? I do and it wasn't until it's release that I knew he was about to blow up. ELHAE is my new Frank x Drake and his AURA EP , released January of this year, is to his career what Frank Ocean's Nostalgia, Ultra and Drake's So Far Gone mixtape was to theirs-- a cornerstone to something promising in music.
There is something to be noticed about the Atlanta based artist. He's hungry, sounds comfortable in his own and he has a distinctive sound and it's refreshing. Since his bandcamp days he's been consistently putting out good music, picking up traction, collaborating with SoundCloud influencers like SPZRKT and Rascal and he is making his mark on a New York City stage, tonight at SOB's, alongside SPZRKT and Abhi/Dijon.
Guess who's in there like swimwear?! Yours truly. Oh, yes there are still tickets.
Bish whe-errr?! Right here best fren!

With Summer coming to an end I can feel myself already becoming prematurely nostalgic about the many rooftop gatherings with friends, Summer Fridays, BBQs and how good my skin feels when the sun rays are shining bright. As the adage goes, "Winter is coming" and this Labor Day weekend signifies the last of summer weekends until next Summer.
Summer on the rooftop
BBQ and big bottles
We got on mini skirts and crop tops
Play the music loud because we can, it's the weekend
If you want we can go until Monday.
I'm counting on those lyrics to get me through the brutal New York Winter that is ahead.
Thank you KT for blessing the track with your beautiful voice, thank you Barry (flash) Allen for producing such an amazing track and thank you SoulEtiquette for putting me on.
Happy Thursday and Happy Labor Day!

The contradiction is: I do fight for artists, but in that fight I somehow was disrespectful to artists. I didn't know how to say the right thing, the perfect thing. I just... I sat at the Grammys and saw Justin Timberlake and Cee-Lo lose. Gnarls Barkley and the Future Sex album... Justin, I ain't trying to put you on blast but I saw that man in tears, bro. And I was thinking like, he deserves to win album of the year. And this small box that we are in as the entertainers of the evening. How could you explain that? Sometimes I feel like, you know, all this bullshit that they run about beef and all that, sometimes I feel like I died for the artist's opinion. For the artists to be able to have an opinion after they were successful. I'm not no politician, bro. And look at that. You know how many times MTV ran that footage again? 'cause it got them more ratings. You know how many times they announced that Taylor was gonna give me the award? 'cause it got them more ratings. Listen to the kids, bro. - Kanye West (VMA's 2015)
Happy Tuesday!
I know, this is a #SaturdayMorningTunes playlist and it's Tuesday, but I've been too busy fighting for artists out here with Ye, but no seriously, I've been trying to master this new DJ software and it's HARD! (?uest let me be your padawan?!)
I've missed you all and I hope that you've missed the playlists. The wait is over.
Thanks for tuning in!

Once in a while it really hits people that they don’t have to experience the world in the way they have been told to.

Take me on a trip, I'd like to go some day Take me to New York, I'd love to see LA I really want to come kick it with you.
I'm back from London and I have so much to share with you, but today is #TBTunes day and I feel as though this track is so relevant to how I feel about life and it also is a source of inspiration of why I created this blog. First off I LOVE Estelle and of course you can all tell I have a soft spot for Kanye by sprinkling his quotes in previous posts. (See here and here)
But this song is about wanting to traveling, exploring cool places, and most importantly it's about getting to know the people not monuments and landmarks. I'm not going to get on a soapbox here, but I will say that London is an amazing city. The British people that I encountered in my exploring were ALL wonderful and I will forever be inspired by them.
Like I mentioned before I have so many food places, markets and gems of London to share with you. Look out for the blog post and if any of you have ever been to London, please feel free to share your experience and some of the cool places you discovered in the comments section below.
Happy Thursday people and again thanks for stopping by!

All I hear is raindrops fallin on the roof top..
Happy Saturday!
So after listening to Tamia' s latest album, Love Life, I was reminded what's been missing in my life and it's R&B. Can we please bring it back?! I've scoured all of soundcloud looking for mixes and tracks of some of my favorites; Faith Evans, Monica,Tamia, Janet Jackson, Erykah Badu, Brandy, Aaliyah, Carl Thomas, Joe, SWV, Tevin Campbell, Musiq Soulchild the list goes on, but the pickings were slim. Note to self: "If you build it, they will come"...you gotta learn how to mix your own tracks.
This week's edition of #SaturdayMorningTunes is dedicated to R&B and hopefully ya'll appreciate the genre as much as I do because I'm anticipating a comeback. (Hello Miguel, Tamia and Janet Jackson!)
Thanks for tuning in and have a great Saturday!
Gimme ya love..
