For a while now Black History Month has come and gone quietly, but something magical has happened in 2016. Celebrating blackness was reactivated. Entertainers and the media all stepped up to the plate and started showing that they too were tired and ready to use their art to show the world blackness and I have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating every moment of it. From Beyonce's Formation, Kendrick's grammy performance to ABC Family's sitcom Black-ish candidly addressing police brutality. In my lifetime, this by far has been the blackest Black History Month ever. Here are 9 reasons February 2016 is the blackest Black History Month ever:
1. Beyonce' dropping an unexpected song and video titled, Formation.
2. Beyonce's Superbowl half-time performance.
3. Charlamange tha God's Donkey of the Day, Tomi Lahren.
4. PBS Black Panther documentary.
5. Kendrick Lamar's Grammy performance.
6. Barack Obama's "Hey, girl," at the White House moment.
7. That one time black girls went to bat for Ugandan model,Aamito Lagum, when MAC cosmetics posted her lips on their IG handle, during NYFW. Double taps and positive comments followed the racist ones. #blackgirlmagic
8. When Virgina McLaurin, 106 year old woman visited the White House to meet Barack and Michelle.
9. AND my personal favorite is from ABC Family TV show, Black-ish. This the episode titled, "Hope", the family candidly have a discussion about police brutality in America.
