Happy National Peanut Butter Day!

IMG_2173.jpg

I don't know about you, but I love peanut butter. I have so many vivid childhood memories of me getting home after school and making a triple stack peanut butter and jelly sandwich that was religiously paired with a couple dozen Oreos and a tall glass of milk. Hmmm.. Just the thought of it makes me want to brave the weather and head down to Peanut Butter & Co., on Sullivan Street, RIGHT.NOW. That place is literally the mecca for peanut butter. Actually, on second thought I have all the ingredients, I will run into my kitchen and put this all together. Victory.Is.Mine. And if you love peanut butter just as much as I do it will be yours too. xxo,

AGamine.

Ramen Around town: 7 best places to get a good ramen fix

IMG_4816.jpg

Hello good people! I don't know about you, but I love ramen and there is nothing like discovering some really good ramen. Now for those of you who are not familiar; I am not talking about those ramen packets that you get at your local grocery for a few cents. Those things are like instant macaroni to real macaroni that is oozing with real cheeses and baked in an oven with love.  I just had a moment. Sue me. --Wait what was I talking about? Oh, yeah ramen.  Ramen is a type of Japaneese noodle soup dish that varies with different types of homemade broths, veggies, meats and honestly whatever kind of seasoning you can imagine. On a side note I once tried my hand as Chef  Boyardty (you see what I did there)  and made what I called Jamasian Ramen. Which was basically my West-Indian twist on the traditional Japaneese dish and I must say that it was spicy, but pretty darn good! (Don't worry I will share my recipe at a later time) If you are in the New York area and would love to try out what I think are some really good ramen spots, that won't break the bank, here are a few places worth checking out:

1. Ise Menkui Tei - (W 56th & Avenue of the Americas)

2. Hide-Chan (E 52nd & 7th Avenue)

3. Minca (E 5th & Avenue B)

4. Totto ( W 52nd & 8th Avenue)

5. Tabata (W 42nd & 9th Avenue)

6. Bossanava ( Canal & Mott Street)

7. Ippudo (E 10th Street &  Cooper Square)

Happy slurping!

xxo,

A.Gamine

Hello Brooklyn...

IMG_0181.jpg

There's nothing like a relaxing weekend catching up with some girlfriends.  Sometimes I find myself getting so caught up in the hustle and bustle of the city that I forget to just let go and to go with the flow. And I must say that in doing so I somehow managed to get everything  I didn't know that I needed by meeting up with friends, hopping on the train and heading to Brooklyn. I guess the old saying has proven itself to be true.."No expectations, no disappointments" I hope you had a great Saturday because I know that I did.

xxo,

Agamine

Uptown Coffee Sipping and Internet Pimping: 7 best places to get a caffeine fix and hoard the wifi

image5.jpg

Happy Sunday good people! I've been away exploring, but I'm back and ready to share what I've found.  Fall is finally here and today the weather has been on the cool side. And I don't know about you, but im not letting the cold weather that is to come keep me in the house.  So I've made a list of really good places where you can grab a warm drink, grab some food, browse the internet and do some work. 1. Silvana ( 116th & Frederick Douglas Blvd)

2. The Edge ( 139th & Edgecombe Ave)

3.  The Chipped Cup ( 148th & Broadway)

4. Manhattanville Coffee ( 142nd & Bradhurst)

5. Double Dutch Espresso ( 118th & Lennox Ave)

6. Lennox Coffee ( 129th & Lennox Ave)

7. Astor Row Cafe ( 130th & Lennox Ave)

These are just a few of my favorite uptown places, but if you have a favorite that isn't listed feel free to share in the comments below. Because you know sharing is caring.

Happy browsing!

A. Gamine

p.s. To my readers that are in places other than Harlem don't worry, I'll be back with a list near you. ;)

The Grange

IMG_0374.jpg

I had the pleasure of catching up with a dear friend @christylezbacon who was in town for his show. Did I mention that he is very talented performing artist? Check out is work here.  Yes, that was a shameless plug. Back to the story,  I was diveyed the task of picking a place for dinner. Now I must confess to you, as much as I like exploring and trying new places. However,  I oftentimes have to check myself because I tend to get lazy and pick my default places. Especially when there are friends and family in town.  So yesterday, I picked my alternative regular spot (Jacob's Pickles being my automatic go to) The Grange Bar and Eatery. The happy hour, from 5-7, is pretty decent if a $6 beer is your thing and the food menu is pretty darn good too!

If you're uptown near Hamilton Heights and in close proximity to Saint Nicholas Park you have to check it out. And if you're feeling adventurous bring your swinging shoes because they sometimes have live music.

Did I mention Sunday is Jazz night and  it's a cute chill date night spot? ;)

Happy exploring!

xxo,

A Gamine

Treat House

Treat-House.jpeg

As some of you may know, my birthday just passed and I've been slipping on my pimpin' in being consistent with my blog posts, but I'm back and I've been exploring these NYC streets and I have so much so share! So first things first, I LOVE a good treat especially when it's time to celebrate something so per usual I'm always on the prowl for a new place to try another sweet treat sensation.  Being that a celebration was in order and I had time to kill I hopped on Instgram and with a quick swipe of my finger, to my surprise, @nyceats gave me a new place to check out! *insert clapping emoji hands here and an obligatory "thank you"*

I have columbused Treat House and I am calling it my own. I kid I kid, but no seriously if you're in the area checking out the relatively new location of the Meatball Shop on the Upper West Side or just shooting the breeze and you're hit with a sweet tooth; stop by and grab a rice Krispy treat at Treat House. You won't be disappointed.

p.s. Birthday cake and the peanut butter krispies are definitely my default favorites.

Happy trick'in or treat'in!

xxo,

A.Gamine

The Juice Shop

IMG_2149.jpg

Summer is here and finally in full swing and in my attempts to take better care of my body and try healthy replenishing alternatives as I roam the streets of New York; I managed to stumble upon The Juice Shop. I must admit this place is actually pretty cool. Located right off sixth avenue and not too far from a few other gems in the Chelsea area, The Juice Shop was just the place I was looking for after my SoulCycle class.

So like a boss I walked up to the counter and ordered "Dr. Feelgood" which was ready in record time and I must say this rich green drink was just what I wanted! What a good bounce back. I almost felt as if I could walk right down the street and do another spinning class, but my glutes were singing hooks from Destiny's Child's hit "No, No, No" so I opted to stick to my errands like any productive New Yorker would do.

If you are in the area or you would like to take a trip, I think The Juice Shop is a perfect place to check out.  I know that I will definitely be back to try out "Crazy For You"  very soon.

Happy Monday People and Happy Juicing!

xxo,

A Gamine
